Freyja is a member of the Vanir tribe of deities; her father is Njord, her brother is Freyr, and he husband is Odr (Odinn). Freyja is the goddess of war, magic, exquisite beauty, lust, fertility and fine material possessions. She is the archetype of the völva, a professional practitioner of seidr – magic. It was she who first brought art to the gods, and to humans as well. She rides a chariot pulled by the two cats Bygul and Trjegul, who were a gift from Thor. She wears Brísingamen a fire necklace laced with ambers fashioned by the Dwarves, which embodies the circle of sacred fire, created as the sun passes through the four seasonal quarter.  She also wears the falcon feather cloak that enables her to fly in falcon shape. Freyja bestows gifts of magic, beauty, lust, and war. She has a fearsome temper, and not even Thor is said to approach her when she has been enraged.
