Jörmungandr, “Midgard Serpent” is a giant serpent, and the middle child of the giantess Angrboða and Loki  that resides in the great ocean that encircles Midgard (Middle Earth, or our Earth). So enormous is he that his body forms a circle around the entirety of Midgard. He and Thor are nemesis. It is said that when Jörmungandr releases his tail the Ragnarök will begin. His wisdom is that of the deep, he is the keeper of secrets and knower of life that resides, to the humans, unknown depths. His energy is great for meditating, for shadow-work, for delving deep into the subconsciousness and for inner peace. He is great to invoke when you feel like you’ve facing a problem ‘larger than life’, or when you’re finding it difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
